Araw ng Kagitingan ( Day of Valor) is celebrated every April 9. It commemorates the fall of Bataan to Japanese troops during World War II.
I admire and honor Filipinos who defended, and those who are defending, the nation. They lived , ironically, the final line in our National Anthem – Ang Mamatay ng Dahil Sa ‘Yo ( To Die For You, our country).
But I pray that no more wars would call for our valiant Filipinos to be fighting and risking their lives again. Wars are absurd. They are instigated by leaders , but fought by the soldiers and suffered by the rest of the people in the war zone.
Let’s work and clamor for peace.
I pray for peace for our country even if we are being bullied by China!
