SM Store Prices Vs SM Hypermarket Prices

From SM Markets

SM Markets define SM Store and SM Hypermarket as follows:

The SM Store is the department store chain of SM Supermalls.

SM Hypermarket is a hybrid of a department store and supermarket, has a larger selling area, and offers a broader array of non-food products (e.g., clothes, household items, appliances, furniture, etc.)

At SM Bicutan ,which is the one closest to me among SM branches, the area of the SM Store is almost as big as the Hypermarket. In the picture above, SM Store is at the right, Building A and the Hypermarket is at the left, Building B.

The thing is, they price identical items from identical brands differently. I bought an air fryer and an induction stove a year ago , same models, same brands and the same items were priced for over P100 at the SM Store. My friend bought chocolates for exchange gift at the SM store, and found out that the same items are priced cheaper at the Hypermarket.

I asked the sales assistant why the big difference. They didn’t know and just said the SM Store has a different management from the SM Hypermarket. I suppose they are different Profit Centers and following different marketing schemes. But customers are bound to know because they are too close to each other. One building is just a cross bridge away as shown in the picture.

I’m not sure if they are following the sane scheme in their other branches. So, let me just inform the people from Bicutan, Parañaque who are still unaware of this pricing difference.
